Chiefs’ Chris Jones has $ 1.25 million at stake in Week 18 against the Broncos and here’s why

The final week of the NFL regular season features games that are both incredibly interesting and meaningless. We usually see a few fun “win and you’re in” situations, but there are other showdowns where a powerhouse will lay starters against a lesser division opponent as they prepare for the playoffs. There is another wrinkle in the last game of the season, however, and that is the incentives.

Players can be at their fingertips, a bag, or a few clicks away from a million dollar payout. That applies to Kansas City Chiefs star defensive lineman Chris Jones, who is only a sack of $ 1.25 million, per ESPN.

Jones has nine sacks in 13 games played this season. If he manages to double-digit sacks for the second time in his career with at least one against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, he’ll get that nice bonus. Jones enjoyed a big outing in the Chiefs’ loss to the Cincinnati Bengals last week as he recorded two sacks.

Jones has generally been a bit of a “boom or bust” in the bag category this year. While he’s nine in 13 games, he’s had eight games where he hasn’t recorded a quarterback strike. The triple Pro Bowler has three games in which he recorded two or more sacks, including a 3.5 sack performance against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 11.

The Broncos have allowed 39 sacks this season, which averages 2.4 sacks per game. Jones, as the Chiefs’ main sack artist, stands a chance.
