Cavaliers hire Jose Calderon as special front office adviser

The Cleveland Cavaliers have hired longtime Toronto Raptors playmaker Jose Calderon as a special advisor to their front office.

“We are delighted to add someone with the profile and experience of José Calderón to our front office,” Cavaliers president Koby Altman said in a press release. “His accomplishments as a basketball player and his familiarity with our organization will be invaluable. We look forward to his ideas and perspective on how we can continue to move this team forward and strengthen our efforts for lasting, long-term success here in Cleveland. “

Calderon, 40, played 14 seasons in the NBA – eight with the Raptors from 2005 to 2013 and one with the Cavaliers in 2017-18 when they reached the NBA Finals.

The Spain international previously worked at the NBPA as a special assistant.

Calderon is second all-time in assists for the Raptors at 3,770 and first in free throw percentage with 87.7%. He is also fourth in games played for the franchise with 525.
