Cavaliers in serious talks to acquire Rajon Rondo

The Cleveland Cavaliers are in serious talks with the Los Angeles Lakers to acquire veteran guard Rajon Rondo, according to Athletic’s Shams Charania.

It comes after the Cavaliers lost Ricky Rubio for the season due to an ACL tear, so the team is traveling the league for a replacement.

Rondo is currently doing the minimum veteran this season, so matching salaries in a potential deal wouldn’t be difficult. The 35-year-old keeper is currently averaging 3.1 points and 3.7 assists on 32.4% overall shots and 26.7% depth after signing a one-year contract this summer to return to THE.

Moving Rondo would open up a spot for the Lakers. It could pave the way for someone like Stanley Johnson to make the official squad as he plays on a 10-day contract and has impressed enough to earn a full-time spot on the squad.
