Former 76ers big man Jahlil Okafor set to sign with China squad

The Philadelphia 76ers selected big man Jahlil Okafor with the No.3 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft and he’s had a really solid rookie season himself. Although the Sixers had a miserable season at 10-72, Okafor averaged 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds with 1.2 assists as a rookie.

However, once Joel Embiid was ready to play and made such a huge impact right away, the Sixers moved on from Okafor pretty quickly, sending him to the Brooklyn Nets as part of an early deal. of the 2017-18 season.

After bouncing around a bit with the New Orleans Pelicans and more recently with the Detroit Pistons, it looks like Okafor is heading overseas. According to Sportando, Okafor is expected to sign a deal with Chinese team Guangsha and try to advance his career again.

Okafor can still be a valuable backup in the NBA as he still has good offensive skills. It will be interesting to see if he can play well enough in China to earn a place in the league again.
