The Quebecer, Luguentz Dort, is preparing to play his third season in the NBA.
He will continue to play a major role next season with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Dort is only 22 years old and plays without complex against the best. He himself begins to be one of the essentials of the NBA. However, do not believe that Luguentz Dort is sitting on its laurels, on the contrary. He has spent the last few weeks in Montreal, training in the hopes of becoming a better player.
“I want to work on my decision making with the ball in my hands. Become a better playmaker, and really my defense, ”Dort said about the elements of his game that he is working on.
It was during the playoffs in 2020 that Dort revealed himself to the basketball world, he who had previously been ignored in the draft. His second season with the Thunder proved to be a great individual success. He was a starter in every Thunder game he played.
On average, he played nearly 30 minutes per game in addition to amassing 14 points. His average of nearly one steal per game illustrates how defensively the Quebecer shines. With his fiery and constant energy, the 6’3 guard is recognized as a nightmare when faced.
“I take a lot of confidence in my defense. I feel like that’s what’s going to help me be in the NBA for as long as possible. Really good studying other players and watching a lot of movies, ”he said.
Last season the Thunder were ruled out of the playoffs. Dort is optimistic about the future, however.
“It was difficult to have lost a lot of games. But I believe in the organization. We will grow up together. And for the years that follow, it is sure that we will be really better, ”he said.
The Quebecer also cares about the Canadian basketball team. He failed to qualify Canada for the Tokyo Games, but he wants to be at the next Olympic fixture in three years.
“We certainly have the talent! It’s going to happen from summer to summer. Next summer there is the World Cup. We will try to have a good result to qualify directly for the Olympics. We’re going to see, it’s going to take time, but we have to stay together and see each other until the next Olympic Games, but I really think we’re going to go, ”he said.
