For the coming season, the health measures of the NBA will be much the same as the previous year. But, this year, they will be much more restrictive for the unvaccinated.
Anti-Covid protocols for the next NBA season are starting to be unveiled. Various local media have obtained a memo totaling 65 pages. This same memo was sent to the 30 franchises by the NBA. What emerges in particular is that basketball players not vaccinated against Covid-19 should be subject to particularly strict measures. A protocol that the prestigious Basketball League would thus be finalizing, in agreement with the NBPA, namely the players’ union. The restrictions will be very similar to those imposed last season, but that was then before the vaccine arrived. This year, they will therefore be much stricter for players who do not want to be vaccinated. These would represent 10% of the total players in the NBA.
Unvaccinated people will have to eat in another room
These famous basketball players will have to go through daily tests, whether during their training, when traveling or even during match days. This will not be the case for players and other members of the technical staff who have been vaccinated. The latter, “level 1”, are the coaches and other people of the various franchises, obliged to be then regularly, within the framework of their work, within 4.5 meters of the players and referees. All these vaccinated people would then only be tested in the event of symptoms, if they were contact cases or if required by an NBA doctor.or a member of the medical staff from their own team. Unvaccinated people will not be allowed to eat in the same room as a player and other “level 1” member and will therefore also have to stay at least two meters away from these same people. Their locker will be as far as possible from other players. However, the mask will remain compulsory for all.
