Report: Cavaliers “in serious talks” to acquire Lakers’ Rajon Rondo

The Cleveland Cavaliers are in serious talks about a deal to acquire Los Angeles Lakers guard Rajon Rondo, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski added that a deal could be reached as early as Friday.

This follows Ricky Rubio’s ACL injury, which weakened Cleveland’s backcourt depth. Rubio suffered the injury in Tuesday’s loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.

Rondo, 35, averages 3.1 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 16.1 minutes per game with the Lakers this season.
