Warriors’ Klay Thompson will officially return Sunday against the Cavaliers


It’s official, Klay Thompson will make his long-awaited Golden State Warriors comeback against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday at the Chase Center in San Francisco.

For the first time since Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals, Thompson will face Steph Curry, Draymond Green and the rest of his Warriors teammates.

The 31-year-old guard took to Instagram to share the news of his return. Thompson shared a clip from the movie “Space Jam,” calling actor Bill Murray his “spirit animal” when he appears at the Chase Center on Sunday.

Thompson has been out for more than two seasons with an ACL and Achilles tendon injury. The five-time All-Star first suffered a knee injury in the 2019 final against the Toronto Raptors. Following his rehabilitation from knee surgery, Thompson tore his Achilles tendon in November 2020.

Fans shouldn’t have to wait long for a Splash Brothers reunion. According to Steve Kerr, Thompson will start Sunday in the Golden State backcourt against the Cavaliers.

After more than 900 days of absence, Thompson will make his highly anticipated debut Sunday in front of Dub Nation at the Chase Center. The Warriors are expected to welcome the Cavs at 5:30 p.m. PT.
