Montrezl Harrell and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope – last season teammates on the Lakers who were sent to the Wizards together in the Russell Westbrook trade – fought at halftime in Washington’s victory over Oklahoma City on Tuesday, according to a report. .
By Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Sources said Harrell got mad at Caldwell-Pope for not passing him the basketball on a play before the first half was over, and the two started grumbling as they walked to the locker room . As the two words exchanged, Harrell and Caldwell-Pope turned to each other – unconnected – and entangled before their teammates separated them, sources said.
By the time the players entered the locker room, the altercation was over. The security presence has been stepped up to ensure that the tension does not build up again.

The duo played the second half together without incident, and Caldwell-Pope kicked off the game to secure the win (he didn’t call the bank, but he will take it).

Showdowns and warm-ups are part of an NBA season, as long as it’s not allowed to fester, players are usually good at moving on. Expect the usual “that’s okay” comments from everyone involved later today.
The Wizards are due to be in sync next week with Bradley Beal due to his return to COVID protocols (he is not vaccinated).
