Mike Tyson didn’t mince his words when he predicted the great fight between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Caleb Plant this weekend.
Canelo Alvarez (56-1-2, 38 KOs) and Plant (21-0-0, 12 KOs) go head to head on Saturday November 6, when all super middleweight crowns are on the line.
The battle to become the undisputed 168 lbs world champion promises to be intense as the two boxers came to blows during the press conference a few weeks ago.
When heavyweight legend Mike Tyson was asked what he thinks about the game, “Iron” Mike made it clear that he believes Canelo will be the big winner in the fight:
“Caleb Plant is not going to make it to the limit,” he told Badou Jack on his hotboxin podcast in July.
“He’s not going to figure out what’s going to happen. He is going to be killed!”
“When you have two human beings in the ring anything is possible but I believe this guy (Canelo) will kill him.”
“Is he your friend?” You’re going to go to his funeral. Wait till you see when Alvarez hits that son of a bitch in the body!”
Plant was on the offensive throughout the build up of the fight, and he didn’t take Tyson’s words without saying:
“Mike Tyson was stronger than ‘Buster’ Douglas in 1990, but it didn’t help. Yet he was determined to win.”
“He was stronger than Lennox Lewis , he was stronger than Evander Holyfield , but it takes more to win a fight than just being stronger than someone,” Plant said via .FightHype.
“There are a lot of other key factors to consider in a fight that have nothing to do with strength.”
Plant is right that in order to be successful in boxing, a boxer should not rely solely on his strength and power, but Tyson is also right that Plant’s opinion could change once he has. felt the power of the Mexican superstar.
