Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs) will face Deontay Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KOs) in his first defense of his WBC and The Ring titles, this Saturday, October 9, at T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas.
The pay-per-view fight will be broadcast on screen by ESPN and Fox Sports in US.
Fury, who is ranked # 1 among heavy by ESPN, has defeated Wilder by technical knockout in the 7 th round, in February 2020, putting his hand on the WBC title. Fury previously held the WBA (super), IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles following his victory over Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015. Fury was stripped of his titles, however, after two years of inactivity. Fury first fought Wilder in December 2018, when the two drew.
Wilder had recorded two knockdowns in the fight, including a sharp drop to the mat at 12 th round, but Fury had won the majority of rounds, so the verdict of the judges was controversial.
The trilogy between Fury and Wilder is expected to be the last duel between the two.
The winner who will be offered a fight for the WBA (super), IBF, WBO and IBO world titles against new heavyweight champion Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (19-0-0, 13 KOs) towards the end of the year 2022 or early 2023.
Fury has previously said he would like to face interim WBC champion Dillian Whyte (28-2-0, 19 KOs) in December.
According to ESPN reporter Dan Rafael, Fury and Wilder were contractually guaranteed to pocket $5 million each for their second fight, but they ended up making $25 million each.
Wilder received a purse of $4 million in their first duel while Fury received $3 million, according to SportsJoe reported.
