Boxing – With $40 million pocketed in 2021, Jake Paul is among the highest paid athletes in the world.
Jake Paul is definitely one of the biggest, at least in terms of income. Indeed, according to Forbes, the boxer would have pocketed 40 million dollars thanks to his three victories in 2021. To this beautiful sum, are added 5 million dollars generated by his other activities, including Youtube.
With this record, Paul would point to 20th place in the ranking of the highest paid athletes last year (between May 2020 and May 2021). A ranking dominated by Conor McGregor (180M), Lionel Messi (130M) and Cristiano Ronaldo (120M).
In boxing, Paul would thus be the highest paid athlete in the world, ahead of the number one pound-for-pound, Canelo Alvarez. The latter would have pocketed 34 million dollars over one year. The youtubeur turned boxer can therefore boast of being above the competition. Many criticize him, but many also watch his performances in the ring.
In 2021, Paul knocked out Ben Askren before winning a decision over Tyron Woodley. He was to end the year with a highly anticipated shock against Tommy Fury, but the latter finally forfeited. Paul therefore granted a revenge to Woodley and he won thanks to a knockout that went around the world.
In terms of pay-per-views, his last fight would be a failure, with only 65,000 estimated sales. However, Paul can rely on different sources of income such as NFTs or derivatives to inflate his numbers.
In 2022, Paul would like to face UFC stars. Jorge Masvidal or Nate Diaz are potential targets. Their contracts with the UFC are blocking all negotiations for the moment, but “The Problem Child”, as he is nicknamed, knows that his commercial power can work miracles.
