It’s a very surprising revelation from UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira: he’s virtually blind without his glasses.

Charles Oliveira is coming off a win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 269 and retaining his lightweight title. Now he is waiting to find out who he will fight against, but he has asked to face Conor McGregor in Brazil at UFC 274 as soon as the Irishman returns from injury. It remains to be seen what the UFC will do.
And surprisingly, Charles Oliveira spoke in an interview about his eyesight, which is very (very) poor without glasses. In the Octagon, he sees three fighters at once (via bjpenn):
” I see three faces. If I hit the middle one, it’s okay. I think I will keep this same technique. Three guys for me is perfect. If I hit the middle one, that’s fine. I am going to tell you the truth, I am a guy who has a lot of faith in God and this is no joke. If I take off my glasses I can only see 50% but that has never bothered me in a fight.”
” It never got in my way in a fight. Sometimes I arrive without the glasses, sometimes with the glasses. It depends on my mood. Sometimes I like to walk in with glasses to look harmless and more cheesy than I already am. And when I take off my glasses, I can see my opponent. God bless me so much that I can almost normally see my opponent on the other side of the cage. But in the street if I take them off I’m blind“.
