An upscale pub in Dublin owned by former two-time UFC champion Conor McGregor was the target of a pair of Molotov cocktails on Wednesday.
According to an article in The Mirror, the Black Forge Inn was targeted by “gasoline bombs,” commonly known as Molotov cocktails – usually glass bottles filled with a mixture of gas and oil, then thrown away afterwards. a piece of cloth acting as a wick is lit.
According to the report, no damage has been done to the pub, which McGregor bought in 2019, and it is open. The Black Forge Inn made a statement to the Mirror and said McGregor was not on site at the time of the incident and that Irish police – the guard – had opened an investigation.
“After hours (Wednesday) it appears criminals made an unprovoked effort to inflict damage at the Black Forge Inn,” the statement read to the Mirror. “No damage was caused to customers, employees or the Forge and Mr. McGregor was not on the scene at the time of the incident. The warden opened an investigation into the event. We are open and busy as always.
The Mirror reported that police were looking for video footage of two men who were allegedly seen driving towards the pub on a scooter just before the incident. Two other Molotov cocktails were also reportedly found near the scene.
The Black Forge Inn is one of McGregor’s more recent out of the cage business deals. He bought the property for $ 2.75 million. Unsurprisingly, the pub features plenty of McGregor’s Irish whiskey launched in 2018, Proper No. Twelve – which is named after the Crumlin (12) postal district in which McGregor grew up in Dublin. The Black Forge Inn is located in this same neighborhood.
McGregor has lost three of his last four fights. He was submitted by Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in October 2018 in a now infamous event that erupted in a cage edge brawl after the fight. Following a TKO from Donald Cerrone in January 2020, McGregor suffered back-to-back losses to Dustin Poirier in 2021. In the second of those fights, he broke his leg, leading to a TKO.
