Derrick Lewis calls Stipe Miocic: “It would be a big fight”

Current heavyweight division number 3 Derrick Lewis is hoping for a second straight victory by beating former category champion Stipe Miocic.

Two weeks ago, The Black Best won by KO in the 1st round against Chris Dakaus in the main event of the last UFC night of the year 2021.

I wanted to play a fight without putting pressure on myself and I felt good‘Lewis said of his latest win (via The MMA Hour).

I plan to do this for the rest of my career now. I want to come, have fun and feel that I have nothing to prove. So that’s one of the reasons I want to fight Stipe next. I think it would be a great game for the fans and for both of us. ‘, explained the Houston native.

It would be an entertaining fight. I’ve fought pretty much every Top 10 member in the division, so it’s a new face, new blood. I think I would be a big underdog in this fight and it will help my fans get back the money they lost in the fight against Gane.

Since losing to Francis Ngannou and losing his belt at UFC 260 last March, Stipe Miocic has been sidelined. A victory against Lewis would therefore be a good way to return to the highest level for the 39-year-old fighter.
