MMA – A heavyweight clash between Derrick Lewis and Tai Tuivasa is reportedly set to be made official for UFC 271 on February 12.
According to our colleagues from MMA Junkie, a clash between Derrick Lewis and Tai Tuivasa would be in preparation for UFC 271. The event will take place on February 12, in Houston.
Lewis should therefore make his return to the octagon in front of his audience, in his hometown. “The Black Beast,” as it’s called, has had five wins in its last six fights. His last loss was inflicted on him by Ciryl Gane, at UFC 265, and it was in Houston. Beaten for the interim heavyweight title, however, he reacted very well by knocking out Chris Daukaus last month. With this victory, Lewis also broke the record for the number of KOs in the UFC.
His next opponent, Tai Tuivasa, must be satisfied. Indeed, the Australian demanded a fight against Derrick Lewis, considering that they both represented “the fun of the division”. And it’s true that we rarely get bored with these two. Tuivasa is still a long way from Lewis’ record, but he can brag about knocking out his last four opponents, including Augusto Sakai at UFC 269.
This poster is added to an already well-stocked menu. In the main event, Israel Adesanya will once again face Robert Whittaker for the middleweight title. A little earlier, Derek Brunson and Jared Cannonier may be fighting for the next title shot of the division.
