MMA – A few days before UFC 270, Francis Ngannou denies having been knocked out by Ciryl Gane in training.
After Ciryl Gane, it’s Francis Ngannou’s turn to speak in an exclusive interview for La Sueur. Responding to Guillaume’s questions, the ‘Predator’, as he is called, returned to his contractual situation with the UFC, but also to the famous sparring video.
On this subject, his version differs from that of his former coach. As a reminder, Fernand Lopez had notably declared that he had a video which would show Ngannou being knocked out by Gane following a blow to the body.
Ngannou strongly denies this version and even declares that he has never suffered the slightest knockout in training.
“I never had a knockdown in practice,” he said. ” Never of my life. Whether in boxing or MMA. »
For him, all these statements about sparring sessions are irrelevant, because training has nothing to do with a real fight.
“Saying ‘such a thing happened in training’ is useless,” said Ngannou. “Training is not the most important thing. And even if something happened, it was an accident. You don’t feel strong because something happened in practice. On the contrary, you feel bad because something happened with your training partner. You want him to be in good shape and to help you until the end of the session. »
In less than ten days, Ngannou will have the opportunity to show what he is capable of against Gane. And according to him, the French will suffer the same punishment as his last opponents.
“In nine days, we will have the opportunity to express ourselves. And from that moment, what happened in training will no longer matter. It is what will happen on January 22 that will take precedence over everything. »
“He’s not the first 10-0 I’ve faced,” he continued. “I think I’m better and that’s why I’m champion. I was not named champion, I became one, I won this title. »
“I will knock out Ciryl in the first two rounds,” concluded the champion.
