Giga Chikadze wants save win over Calvin Kattar

MMA – This weekend, Georgian Giga Chikadze will be back in the octagon to face “The Boston Fisher” Calvin Kattar.

With a 14-2 MMA record, Giga Chikadze is on a nine-game winning streak. He has won his last three TKO clashes against Jamey Simmons, Cub Swanson and Edson Barboza. He is also a former Glory kickboxer who notably faced the French Victor Pinto and Dylan Salvador. This weekend, he faces Calvin Kattar, who is coming off a loss in January 2021 to Max Holloway. In five years at the UFC, the latter has notably beaten Shane Burgos, Chris Fishgold, Ricardo Lamas, Jeremy Stephens or Dan Ige.

Giga Chikadze spoke at the UFC Vegas 46 press conference: “I feel like he’s going to vary the attacks with a little bit of wrestling,” said Giga Chikadze. “I think it’s going to be his plan because it comes from wrestling. Then he has good boxing techniques. Either he will box with me, or he will fight with me. (…) Honestly, I really want to show people how awesome my ground game has become. I want to start submitting fighters very soon. But because Calvin Kattar has never been knocked out, it gives me a little more motivation to finish him with my strikes. ”

“Last time around, I really had a chance to finish Edson by submission, but like I said, I had to prove that I’m the best striker and that’s why I gave it up. This time? I said I’m the best boxer in the UFC too, so I’m probably going to continue to focus on hitting. But if I have a chance like I did with Edson, this time I’m not going to give up. “
