Gilbert Burns vs. Khamzat Chimaev, still not signed

MMA – Despite the desire of the two men to face each other, the UFC has still not made it official Gilbert Burns vs. Khamzat Chimaev.

While the two men reached an agreement last week, the fight between Gilbert Burns and Khamzat Chimaev has still not been signed.

Speaking to PVT’s Marcelo Alonso, the Brazilian gave an update on the situation.

“I’m like you, I’m waiting to find out,” Burns said. “Maybe the fight will be in April, maybe the fight will be in May. I have already spoken more with him. I think the fight is going to happen, but I still don’t know what’s missing. I don’t know if the UFC is thinking about a strategy, but the fight is not scheduled yet, man. As incredible as it may seem, for now the fight is not happening, even if we want to fight. »

This revelation is somewhat surprising. Indeed, since the publication of a written agreement between Burns and Chimaev to face each other on April 9, many observers consider this fight as recorded.

After his quick win over Jingliang Li in October, Chimaev wanted to come back quickly. Moreover, his name was already associated with that of Burns for a confrontation in January. However, the negotiations, if any, were never successful.

Burns, meanwhile, is also eager to return to the octagon. Winner of Stephen Thompson in July, the Brazilian complained recently that no competitor in the top 10 wanted to face him.

Case to follow.
