MMA – Alexander Gustafsson gave his thoughts on the first four clashes Khamzat Chimaev delivered in the Octagon.
With his ten saves before the limit and his unbeaten streak, Khamzat Chimaev seems unstoppable in the UFC. In the octagon, he already has four successes to his credit including a KO in 17 seconds inflicted on Gerald Meerschaert or a victory by submission against Li Jingliang. In the UFC welterweight rankings, he sits in eleventh place. During his career, his compatriot Alexander Gustafsson beat names like Thiago Silva, Mauricio Rua, Jimi Manuwa, Jan Blachowicz or Glover Teixeira. The latter has not returned to the octagon since July 2020.
The Swede spoke about Khamzat Chimaev via ESPN MMA: “He has the level of potential to become the GOAT, one hundred percent. He’s been doing everything to become one from the start, if he keeps doing what he’s doing now, he’ll be one of those guys someday, I’m one hundred percent sure. It’s crazy when you say that, because Kamaru Usman is the best striker around right now, and I love him, but I’ve trained with so many guys, in heavyweights, light heavyweights, middleweights, welterweights, and Chimaev puts the guys down on the mat during practice sessions. This guy hits with too much precision, too much power. “
Alexander Gustafsson had already given his prognosis on a possible shock against Kamaru Usman: “I think he would put Kamaru Usman to sleep, honestly. I think if he just touches his chin there’s a good chance Kamaru Usman will fall asleep. And yet, I like Kamaru Usman, he’s a great champion and he keeps breaking records. ”
