Max Holloway withdraws, Alexander Volkanovski is ready to face the Korean Zombie

Max Holloway having withdrawn from an injury, the trilogy against Alexander Volkanovski scheduled for UFC 272 will not take place.

The 145-pound champion therefore finds himself for the moment without an opponent. However, there is no shortage of replacements. As soon as Holloway’s withdrawal was announced, many names were suggested to Volkanovsky.

One of them seems to come off. Indeed, Ariel Helwani, the famous ESPN journalist, announced that Chan Sung Jung, aka the Korean Zombie, is currently the big favorite on the list of potential Hawaiian replacements.

For his part, Volkanovski seems quite willing to defend his belt against the Korean. The Great has also shared his enthusiasm on social networks.

After two victories against Holloway to grab the belt of 145 pounds and then defend it, Volkanovski retained his title by beating Brian Ortega by decision in his last appearance.

For his part, Chang Sung Jung recovered from his loss to Ortega by defeating Dan Ige by unanimous decision last June. Even though he appears to be in a good position to face the champion, he’s certainly not the only one hoping for a title fight.

Former retired two-time champion Henry Cejudo also stepped in to ask for his share of the pie. This is not the first that Triple C is pressuring for a fight against Volkanovski, which would be the opportunity for him to add the belt of a third category to his list of achievements.
