Paddy Pimblett wants the UFC London card, but he doesn’t have an opponent yet.
Rumblings has revealed that Pimblett (17-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will fight Donald Cerrone at UFC 272 on March 5 in Las Vegas, but the rising star put those rumors to rest.
Pimblett is very keen to fight in front of a sold-out crowd in his home country and wants to build on his spectacular first UFC knockout against Luigi Vendramini in September.
“There is no truth to this,” Pimblett told Michael Bisping on the “Believe You Me” podcast. “Not on my side. Do you really think the UFC is going to put me on a card on March 5th in Vegas when they play in London on the 19th? That does not make sense. I would always like to fight in London in front of my home crowd.
He continued, “I think it was just that Chael was trying to bait the click a bit. It starts with Chael. Chael made a video.
Pimblett was called up by Jared Gordon, who just picked up a split decision victory over Joe Solecki in October. Gordon (18-4 MMA, 6-3 UFC) also holds a victory over former Pimblett teammate Chris Fishgold, giving the former Cage Warriors champion an added incentive to fight him on the map scheduled for March 19 in London. .
“The UFC didn’t come against me with no opponent,” Pimblett said. “After he mentioned me, I thought Jared Gordon and I might be matched up. But like I said, I have no idea, we’ll see what happens.
He continued, “Because he mentioned me in his post-fight interview and beat my old teammate, I’d love to fight Jared Gordon. He beat (Chris Fishgold) so obviously I would love to beat him and he’s on a three-game winning streak, his last loss was against (Charles) Oliveira.
Gordon replied to Pimblett and seems ready to sign the dotted line if offered the fight.
