UFC – Max Holloway forfeits the trilogy against Alexander Volkanovski!

MMA – Max Holloway is reportedly forfeited from UFC 272 on March 5. There he was to face Alexander Volkanovski for the featherweight title.

We will have to wait before seeing the third act between Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway. According to sources close to ESPN, Holloway has aggravated an injury and cannot be recovered in time. The pair were scheduled to meet in the main event of UFC 272 on March 5. The shock had only just been formalized.

The UFC has not yet communicated on this withdrawal. We therefore still do not know if Volkanovski is maintained on this event or if the trilogy is postponed to a later date.

Alexander Volkanovski captured the featherweight title in his first win over Max Holloway at UFC 245. He then made his first belt defense by beating the Hawaiian once again in UFC 251. Each time, the two men knew the decision, but the second was much closer than the first. After this double confrontation, Volkanovski beat Brian Ortega on points in UFC 266.

For his part, Holloway was able to raise his head after these two defeats for the title. He comes out of two wins by unanimous decision over Calvin Kattar and Yair Rodriguez.

In any case, another belt will be at stake during UFC 272. Indeed, Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling will finally meet for the unification of the bantamweight title.
