Cyberpunk 2077 will be played by a million people every day this week.
That is what CD Projekt Red has announced. “Every day of this week, Night City is visited by a million players, both new and returning players. We want to thank you for playing the game.”
The increase in popularity of the game is partly due to the recently released 1.6 update, which includes several improvements. In addition, the game is on sale at a fifty percent discount on Steam and the Cyberpunk 2077 anime Edgerunners recently came out on Netflix.
Cyberpunk 2077 was released in 2020 and was criticized by many critics and players for its many bugs. The game was even removed from the PlayStation Store and most digital stores gave players the option to request a refund. CD Projekt Red released several patches to improve the game, after which the game was offered again on the PlayStation Store in June of last year. In February this year, a patch was released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
Last April, CD Projekt claimed Cyberpunk 2077 had sold over eighteen million copies. Earlier this month, the company announced the first and only expansion for the game, called Phantom Liberty. The expansion is set to release next year on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Google Stadia. Although no new expansions for the game will be made after that, CD Projekt has indicated that it wants to continue working on the IP.
