EA’s new Battlefield studio and Halo creator is called Ridgeline Games

Electronic Arts has officially unveiled a new development studio working on the Battlefield franchise: Ridgeline Games.

Last October it was already announced that EA had set up a new studio in Seattle to work on Battlefield, but now the name has been announced through a press release. It was also already clear that the studio will be led by Marcus Lehto, one of the creators of Halo and main character Master Chief.

Several employees have already been hired for the studio. The first game should represent “a story-driven campaign within the Battlefield universe”, although more details are not yet known.

“It is a great honor to have the opportunity to partner with Dice and Ripple Effect to lead the changes in storytelling and character development within the Battlefield franchise,” said Lehto.

Lehto used to work for Bungie and was the art director for the first three games. For Halo Reach, he was the creative director. He also worked on Disintegration, the shooter of Private Division. Lehto is also known as the ‘father of Master Chief’.

EA previously said it wants to create a “connected Battlefield universe” through multiple games. The company is looking to revive the franchise after the mixed-reception Battlefield 2042, which came out last year.
