Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (32) of record champion Bayern Munich has apparently injured his knee while training with Africa Cup host Cameroon.
The attacker broke off the session on Thursday because of “acute pain in his right knee,” said AFP press spokesman Serge Guiffo. An investigation in the evenings should provide clarity about a possible drop-out.
Former Mainz-based Pierre Kunde Malong, as well as Jean Efala Konguep, Michael Ngadeu Ngadjui and Christian Bassogog, have since tested positive for the coronavirus. All four went into isolation. Host country Cameroon will start the tournament against Burkina Faso on January 9.
