Due to the numerous corona cases at FC Bayern, trainer Julian Nagelsmann apparently uses all available resources to have sufficient personnel alternatives.
As reported by Sport1, Nagelsmann had campaigned to bring the two U17 talents Arijon Ibrahimovic and Paul Wanner back to Munich from the current training camp of the German national junior team in Spain.
The two 16-year-old Bayern players will arrive in Munich on Thursday morning. Due to their DFB trip, the duo was freshly tested for Corona, unlike other young players in the club who have not yet started training.
It is not yet clear whether this emergency plan will come into effect at all. After the ninth corona case at FC Bayern was confirmed in Alphonso Davies on Wednesday, the second half of the season against Borussia Mönchengladbach is on the brink on Friday.
Gladbach manager Max Eberl said on Wednesday that Bayern had already tried to move the game. “I have heard from the league. And I called Brazzo (Hasan Salihamidzic, editor’s note) that Bayern would like to postpone the game. But that is decided by the DFL and not by us. Our subject is to act on that Concentrate. Prepare the game and assume that it will be played on Friday.” Salihamidzic told the dpa they were “considering” “how we can play the game and discussed the situation with the DFL”.
According to photo information, the DFL is awaiting a decision from the Munich health department regarding Davies, who was still training with the team on Wednesday morning for his positive PCR test result. If he was infected with the more contagious Omikron variant, a team quarantine would also be conceivable due to direct contact with colleagues. According to the DFL bylaws, 15 players must be available for a Bundesliga match – including nine licensed players (including a goalkeeper).
