FC Bayern: Suspected of mild myocarditis in Davies after corona disease

FC Bayern Munich still has to do without Alphonso Davies. According to coach Julian Nagelsmann, the Canadian is suspected of mild myocarditis after the corona disease.

“You don’t know exactly where it comes from. The chance is there, but it’s not 100 percent clear. But that’s not the deciding factor either,” Nagelsmann said at the press conference on Friday. “Fact is: He’s got it. It’s modest, to shitty, to extremely shitty.”

Nagelsmann could not predict how long Davies will be out: “He is out of training until further notice. He will also be unavailable for the next few weeks.”

Leon Goretzka still struggles with patellar tendon problems, but Nagelsmann rules out surgery. “We will try drug therapy,” the FCB coach said. “In nine days we will see how the knee reacts and then take new steps.”

After all, Manuel Neuer, Leroy Sane, Dayot Upamecano, Omar Richards, Corentin Tolisso and Tanguy Nianzou return on Saturday in the squad of the German record champions for the away game at 1. FC Köln (3:30 PM in LIVETICKER).

FC Bayern: Newcomer for comeback – Coman not an option yet

However, Nagelsmann only offered goalkeeper and captain Neuer and Tolisso from the start. “Nobody is that 100% fit. Upamecano, Sane, Nianzou and Neuer are back in the selection, but except Manu most will be on the bench first,” said Nagelsmann.

In addition to Goretzka, the record champions are still missing Lucas Hernandez (Corona) and Josip Stanisic (torn muscle fiber). Kingsley Coman, who extended his contract on Thursday until 2027, is also out after recovering from a corona disease due to a muscle injury. The two youngsters Paul Wanner and Lucas Copado, who made their Bundesliga debut against Borussia Mönchengladbach (1:2) in the second half of the season opener, are now back in the selection.
