Flick is currently in London, where he followed Chelsea FC’s 4-0 Champions League win over Juventus Turin with his coaching staff on Tuesday. He was connected to the DFB meeting on Wednesday and indicated that he had had a conversation with Joshua Kimmich about the Corona vaccination and his personal situation. As we know, the national actor has not yet received a vaccine.
“I spoke to Jo,” said the national coach, “and I think there is also a direction in which he can be vaccinated. I guess that was a really good conversation. I heard a trend on his part. But now you have to wait and watch. ”
Flick thinks it’s “not good” to pillory Kimmich like that, because you distract yourself from a lot of things that could or should have gone better in Germany.
Flick also reported that Kimmich was “very” concerned about his situation. “Things are winning,” said the national coach. After all, Kimmich is “a thoughtful player” who thinks about “a lot of things”. This is why Kimmich will not give in to the pressure on vaccination.
He didn’t believe, Flick added, that Kimmich “is responsible for the fact that we currently have such a high number of infections.” The national coach stressed: “He gets the support from me.”
Kimmich had missed the last two international matches against Liechtenstein and Armenia because he had to be quarantined.
