Granit Xhaka is still very close to his ex-club Borussia Mönchengladbach. Neither party has ruled out a return.
While midfielder Granit Xhaka only extended his contract with Arsenal in the summer of 2024, a return to the Bundesliga at Borussia Mönchengladbach does not seem to be ruled out.
“I have just renewed my contract, which will last another two and a half years. Then I will be 32. And if Max Eberl is ready to bring me back to 32, my door will be open too,” he said declared. Xhaka recently in the “MitGeredet” podcast.
Max Eberl open to Xhaka’s return to Gladbach
And Gladbach manager Max Eberl is open to a comeback. “Granit had a great time here at Borussia Mönchengladbach. We are very happy that he has a very close relationship with the club and the region. We still have irregular contacts. He has already alluded to this on several occasions,” said he declared.
On the other hand, Eberl has made it clear that the 29-year-old is currently not an option. “Granit told me his salary in London. I told him he should play at Arsenal for a few more years and then we can talk more about it.”
Still, it’s “a great story and always nice when the players say that. When he’s really 32, talk to him again.”
Xhaka played for the Colts for four years from 2012 to 2016 before moving to the Premier League at Arsenal for around € 45million.
