Gladbach: Goodbye to Ginter and Zakaria possible in winter

Borussia Mönchengladbach would sell its summer departures Matthias Ginter and Denis Zakaria in the winter if suitable offers arose. “If something comes up that we have to deal with financially, I can’t rule out that both – or one – will leave the club in the winter,” sports director Max Eberl said on Thursday before the home league game against Bayer Leverkusen.

Inter Milan are showing great interest in German national player Ginter and media reports are that offers for Swiss national player Zakaria will come from England. There’s “nothing on my desk,” Eberl said. “There is now speculation that is not our subject.”

Borussia has already signed a replacement for Ginter: Marvin Friedrich comes over from Union Berlin. “We have brought in a player for the future who has developed very, very well in recent years. We are happy to have him here,” said coach Adi Hütter.

Goalkeeper Yann Sommer (after pelvic problems) and 2014 world champion Christoph Kramer (after infection) will probably be available against Bayer.
