On August 31, the European transfer market closed without the expected arrival of Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid. The current most valuable player on the market, valued at 160 million euros, will continue at Paris Saint Germain with Leo Messi, so La Liga missed his last chance to have a superstar again and lost value in the market.
According to Transfermarkt, La Liga is currently valued at 4.99 billion euros, which meant a 7.2% drop compared to last season. It is also the only one of the five major leagues in the world -Premier League, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1- that lost value compared to the previous season.
In this way , La Liga does not have any player valued at more than 100 million euros. Five of them are from the English league – Kane, Sancho, Salah, Lukaku and De Bruyne -, two from Ligue 1 – Neymar and Mbappe – and Haaland from the Bundesliga. In the Spanish league, the most valuable player is De Jong who is ninth in the ranking valued at 90 million euros.
