Paris Saint-Germain coach Mauricio Pochettino has serious concerns about Kylian Mbappe. The attacker dropped out against Club Brugge (1-1) on Wednesday evening with an ankle injury and according to the coach, his pupil is probably out for a while.
Apart from the 1-1 draw, Pochettino had little good news to report, because Mbappe’s injury will take quite a while. “He has sprained his ankle anyway and he already had problems with both ankles. It doesn’t look good, but we have to wait and see what the exact severity of the injury is,” said the Argentinian about Mbappe, who was replaced after 50 minutes by Mauro Icardi. The invader made very little impression.
The French L’Équipe established that Icardi had only six ball contacts in the half hour that he participated and was offside no less than four times. The medium opened big with ‘Fantomatique’ on the front page about the performance and in the figures that were handed out Noa Lang scored the highest figures of Club Brugge with a ‘7’. Neymar (4), Messi (5) and Mbappé (5) scored unsatisfactory for their performance, while Georginio Wijnaldum received a ‘3’. Le Parisien saw that the super trio MNM found each other too little, RMC Sport thought the great attack trio ‘toothless’.
Pochettino is not yet concerned about the interplay between his stars. “They need time to get used to each other. That makes sense, we are busy creating a team together. That will only get better.” For the time being, without Mbappé, who will probably not be available against Peter Bosz’s Olympique Lyon next weekend.
