Antonio Rüdiger’s contract with Chelsea expires at the end of the season. Most recently, the Germany international has been the subject of several transfer speculations, but the Blues are still hoping to stay. Club legend Ashley Cole is also campaigning for this.
“You can’t lose such strong protagonists,” Cole said on Sky Sports. The 28-year-old’s sporting value to Chelsea is priceless. “He can build from behind and thus initiate attacks. He uses his body to be one-on-one. He is on his way to becoming a real leader. He has a lot of mentality.”
Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel, under whom the international broke through with the Blues, would also like to see him at Stamford Bridge. “We can offer him something,” Tuchel said. “He is a player who is doing well at Chelsea. I think he knows that very well.”
Most recently, Rüdiger was associated with several top European clubs. In addition to Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, FC Bayern is also mentioned several times as a prospect.
In the current season, the central defender has played 28 competitive matches. He scored three goals and prepared for four more.
