Chelsea FC: loss of more than 170 million euros despite Champions League victory

Despite their victory in the Champions League, the English top club Chelsea FC recorded a loss of 145.6 million pounds (about 173.5 million euros) in the 2020/21 financial year. The club of German team manager Thomas Tuchel announced this on Thursday.

A lack of viewership income and a lack of transfer income were mainly responsible for the negative balance.

Despite the corona pandemic, turnover grew to £416.8 million (approximately EUR 491 million). The Blues mainly benefited from income from the royal class and television money.

In the previous year, turnover was 387.8 million pounds (about 457 million euros).
