Chelsea star Rüdiger helps children in Sierra Leone and reveals their favorite team at the Africa Cup

Antonio Rüdiger works with the organization “BigShoe” for children in Sierra Leone. The Chelsea centre-back has also revealed how he follows the Africa Cup of Nations.

Together with the children’s aid organization “BigShoe”, Rüdiger is involved for the first time in his mother’s homeland. Thanks to his efforts, surgeries have been made possible for children with club feet in recent weeks. “Every child has dreams, but not everyone has the opportunity to pursue them – I want to change that,” said Rüdiger.

The 28-year-old had already covered the costs of surgical procedures for 11 small patients in the past. “Football gave me the opportunity to help others and make the lives of these children and their families better. Seeing the children smiling in the photos also makes me happy. I am very connected to my second home. Other projects are planned”, said Rudiger.

The German national player is currently closely following the Africa Cup. “I also have regular contact with one or the other player on Instagram. I get along very well with Kei Camera. The mentality of the team is really excellent. These are all great characters who give their all in every game,” said Rüdiger SPOX and PURPOSE.

Rüdiger described the surprising 0-0 win against defending champions Algeria as a “huge success” for 108th in the world rankings. “They can only win in the next few games. They defended incredibly well and with goalkeeper Mohamed Kamara they had world class support that day,” added Rüdiger.
