When team manager Jürgen Klopp returned after surviving the coronavirus infection, Liverpool FC reached the fourth round of the FA Cup. The Reds defeated third division Shrewsbury Town 4-1 (2-1) even without many regulars.
Kaide Gordon (34th), Fabinho (44th, hand penalty, 90th + 3) and Roberto Firmino (79th) turned the game around with their hits. Daniel Udoh (27th) had put the outsider ahead.
Klopp had missed the top match at Chelsea (2-2) after a positive test. The league cup match scheduled for last Thursday at Arsenal FC has been postponed at Liverpool’s request after several corona cases in the team and on the staff.
Champions League winner Chelsea is also in the fourth round of the FA Cup. In the 5:1 (4:0) against fifth division FC Chesterfield, national player Timo Werner scored the opening goal for team manager Thomas Tuchel’s squad. Antonio Rüdiger was spared, Kai Havertz came on.
Tottenham Hotspur also won 3-1 against third division Morecambe. After coach Antonio Conte’s squad had been trailed for a long time by a goal from Anthony O’Connor (33.), Harry Winks equalized in the 74th minute with a direct free kick from a tight corner. Lucas Moura (85th) and Harry Kane (88th) made the win perfect in the end.
