Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has responded to the rumors of a transfer to FC Barcelona, clearly describing them as “bad journalism”.
The Portuguese channel SPORT TV reported that Fernandes had been offered Barca. His advisers should therefore have tried to make a transfer of the midfielder possible in January.
The Portugal international made it clear via Instagram: “And I thought the New Year only started a few days ago, but it’s April 1st!” He further criticized the station’s posts, asking, “Or is it just bad journalism again?”.
After the switch from Sporting CP to the Red Devils in January 2020, Fernandes quickly became one of the top players among the English record champions. In the first half of the 2021/22 season, however, the attacking midfielder suffered a significant loss of form.
The 27-year-old has scored just one goal in his last 14 Premier League games and is rumored to be one of many unlucky players at United. Ralf Rangnick’s team is seventh in the Premier League, four points behind a Champions League ranking.
In the current season, however, the 27-year-old has scored five goals and provided nine assists.
