Team manager Antonio Conte goes on the attack by courting Danish international Christian Eriksen. Eriksen, who went into cardiac arrest at the European Championships in the summer and was “dead for five minutes” according to his own statement, can train any moment with England first division team Tottenham Hotspur, Conte said: “It’s great that he can play football again. For the door is always open to him.”
The 29-year-old, who dreams of taking part in the World Cup in Qatar this winter, was recently under contract with Inter Milan. Due to a rule in Italy forbidding playing with a defibrillator, the midfielder cannot continue his career there.
Despite the dramatic events, Eriksen’s doctors apparently consider a return to be realistic, so competitive sports are also possible with a defibrillator. It is reported that clubs from Denmark, the Netherlands and England are interested in signing.
Eriksen knows Conte from normal times at Inter Milan. The two won the title together there last season. Eriksen played for Spurs from 2013 to 2020 before moving to Italy.
