Gerda: A Flame in Winter has been out for a little over a week now and the game hasn’t been in the spotlight much, unfortunately. The game from publisher DONTNOD Entertainment and creator PortaPlay is a gripping story set during the Second World War.
In the video game, you step into the shoes of Gerda, a nurse in the small Danish village of Tinglev. During the cold winter and the height of the war, you don’t make heroic choices at the front, no. Instead, it’s smaller and gripping situations that come a little closer than a hero story far away. You make choices by exploring, dialoguing, and nurturing the relationships you have with those around you.
The game has multiple endings and multiple paths to explore. However, if you are not sure whether the game is for you, you can view the gameplay below. Thanks to Nindie Spotlight, you can view half an hour of footage.
What do you think of the game? Maybe you’ve already made it or haven’t completely crossed the line yet? You can get Gerda: A Flame in Winter from the Switch eShop for a limited time of €17.99. Starting September 9, the game will cost $19.99.
