August Dean Ayala, who has been the director of Hearthstone since last February, has left Blizzard.
He made this known on social media. Last Friday was his last day. In his tweet, he thanks all players and his colleagues and says he is proud of his work. He says he will be out of work for the next few weeks – so it looks like he’ll be going to work for another company after that.
Although Ayala had only been responsible for Hearthstone since February, he spent a total of about 11 years with Blizzard. He joined the company in 2011 as a quality analyst, before becoming a Hearthstone designer from 2014 onwards.
It is unknown at the time of writing who will replace Ayala’s position within Blizzard.
