How to pair Discord Voice with an Xbox

Since yesterday it is possible for Xbox users to make calls via Discord while gaming. In this step-by-step plan we explain how to connect Discord Voice to an Xbox console.

Linking Discord Voice to an Xbox account only takes a few minutes. It is important that you have both the Discord mobile app and the Xbox mobile app installed. Obviously you need an account on both apps.

1. Open the Discord app on your phone and then click on your avatar, which is your profile picture. Then go to ‘Connections’.

At the top right you will now see ‘Add’. Click on that.

2. You will then see a list of all applications. Search for Xbox and select it.

3. You will get a popup with some information about this new Xbox feature from Discord. At the bottom it says ‘Get started’, click on that. Then you log in with your Microsoft account, in other words the account that should already be linked to your Xbox console.

4. If successful, Discord will say you’re “all set.” Before you test the new voice chat option, it is important that you are logged in to the Xbox app. If so, it’s up to you to find a voice channel in Discord that you want to use while gaming.

When you’ve found a voice channel, choose to join the conversation. Once you join, swipe up. Then choose ‘Transfer to Xbox’, and you will be redirected to the Xbox app. In the app you then choose again to transfer your voice.

You should now see a thumb on the screen in the Xbox app. The console is now connected to the Discord voice channel of your choice. On the console itself it is also possible to adjust certain (audio) settings. Lots of fun!
