Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, said he is very confident that the Activision Blizzard acquisition will be approved.
“Obviously, acquisitions of this size are under strict supervision, but we are very confident that they will succeed,” Nadella told Bloomberg.
He suggests that there are about three to four companies in the game industry that have a larger market share than Microsoft. “So if this is about competition, let us offer competition.”
Earlier, Microsoft announced that it would acquire Activision Blizzard, the publisher of Call of Duty, for a record $68.7 billion. Organizations around the world are now analyzing the deal to ensure there is no unfair competition after the acquisition. Sony previously indicated that it would be unfair if Call of Duty would appear exclusively on Xbox, but Microsoft has repeatedly emphasized that it does not have that intention.
