Sergio Perez has become a lot richer this week. The Mexican driver has won a lawsuit against a former sponsor and that brings him a lot of money.
A big financial windfall for Sergio Perez. The Red Bull driver has won a lawsuit against a former sponsor this week. In 2019, the Mexican filed a lawsuit against MGI Asistencia Integral. That is an outsourcing company and comes under the branch of Pemex, an oil company owned by the Mexican government.
After two years in court, Perez won the case. According to the Mexican newspaper Reforma, he will receive 57 million pesos from the Mexican government, just over 2.4 million euros. Pemex sponsored Perez through 2019. Then a new Mexican government came and the state-owned company said it wanted to spend its money on ‘other priorities’.
On top of the payout, Perez will also receive interest on the deal. How much that amount will be will be calculated later by the federal court.
