Otmar Szafnauer is no longer Aston Martin’s team principal. The British Formula 1 team has announced that the Romanian American has left the team. A reason for the departure is not mentioned, but his name was linked to Alpine last month in the corridors.
The team says his role is currently being taken over by other senior figures in a construction that will last until a successor is named.
“The team’s focus is now on getting the most competitive car possible for the start of the 2022 Formula 1 season,” the press release reads.
Szafnauer was part of the team for a total of twelve years that also went through life as Force India and Racing Point during that period.
