Max Verstappen took the lead this Friday in free practice at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, where the Belgian Grand Prix is taking place this weekend.
After Valtteri Bottas this morning, Max Verstappen was the fastest in the second free practice session of the Belgian Grand Prix.
The Dutch driver, however, did not have an easy session as he lost control of his Red Bull at Malmedy, damaging his rear suspension, five minutes from the end of this session, which ended with a red flag.
Moments before that, Esteban Ocon had already been frightened by spinning at high speed while Charles Leclerc had crashed into the wall at the Combes chicane, tearing one of the front trains of his Ferrari.
The classification of this session continues with the Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton, respectively in second and third places on the timesheet, less than a tenth of a second behind Verstappen: everything seems to indicate that the battle for pole will be contested again between Red Bull and the reigning world champions this weekend!
Fernando Alonso ranks fourth in these FP2s, just ahead of Pierre Gasly. Lance Stroll follows in sixth place, ahead of Esteban Ocon and Sebastian Vettel. Lando Norris and Sergio Pérez complete a top 10 from which Ferrari drivers are absent subscribers.
The third free practice session of the Belgian Grand Prix will start from 12 noon tomorrow at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
