In 2020 the complete Formula 1 calendar was rescheduled, in 2021 several races were canceled and in 2022 we also have to take into account any changes due to the corona virus. Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali hopes that all 23 races on the calendar can continue, but remains realistic.
In conversation with the German Sports 1 explains Domenicali about F1’s interest in new venues. “The United States is important to us, we are working hard to make Miami a success. In addition, we should not underestimate the Far East, especially with Guanyu Zhou driving for Alfa Romeo. Interest from China continues to grow, so this is also where our focus is.”
“We should not underestimate the corona pandemic”
“A comeback to Africa would also be great,” said the Formula 1 CEO. “How quickly this will go, however, depends on the corona situation. We should not underestimate the pandemic. We may also have to adjust the calendar in 2022.”
Between March 20 and November 20, if everything goes ahead, Formula 1 will travel to 23 locations around the world. Old familiar races such as Australia, Canada, Singapore and Japan are to be held again in 2022. There has been no racing here for the past two years due to the corona virus.
