Mexican driver Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez started from the last spot on the starting grid at the Netherlands Grand Prix and finished in eighth place to be named the Formula One driver of the day.
However, for the Mexican, the contact he had during the race with the Englishman Lando Norris, was the cause that he could not finish in a better position in the Dutch GP, so nothing was saved against the British after the competition.
“It was beyond the limit with Lando. I feel that that touch was unnecessary. It was a race where I gave everything from start to finish. Contact with Lando cost me sixth place, because it damaged the entire flat bottom on the right side of the car, “said the Red Bull driver.
“The touch with Lando affected the car. I did not have enough space and it was crazy, something unnecessary that maneuver he did,” he added.
Although Pérez , in the end, rescued what he had done in the race in the Netherlands where he managed to score points despite the initial disadvantage.
“We minimize the damage after the penalty. We must return strong in Monza and now we also suffer some damage after Lando,” said the man from Guadalajara.
