Former Formula 1 driver Christian Danner (63) also watches closely how Mick Schumacher is doing in his first F1 GP season. The Munich resident finds words of praise for Michael Schumacher’s son.
The big topic in the latest issue of “AvD Motor & Sport Magazin” by Sport1 was of course the dramatic DTM finale at the Norisring, and ex-GP driver Christian Danner found clear words for it. But RTL’s long-time Formula 1 expert also spoke about the latest events in the premier class.
Christian Danner observes Mick Schumacher’s first GP season closely and praises his young compatriot for the strong performance in the final training at the Turkish Grand Prix: “That was really a step forward in qualifying. Was it because of the characteristics of the route? But you have to take it with you first. He managed Mick very well. For him, the most important thing is that he takes a psychological boost with him. These are small things that are extremely important for a racing driver.”
Regarding the World Cup duel between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, Christian Danner says: “I see Verstappen up front. The duel between the two is still balanced. Turkey wasn’t a normal race. It was a bit haywire. That is not representative. You can’t say that was the turnaround. They will continue to drive at eye level. We will only receive the world champion at the very end in Abu Dhabi.”
