F1 legend Prost doubts Hamilton’s possible retirement: “Would be a shame”

It is still quiet around the person Lewis Hamilton. The Mercedes driver has not been heard from after losing the world championship to Max Verstappen in Abu Dhabi. The rumor mill is therefore working overtime and many F1 celebrities therefore consider stopping Hamilton as a serious option.

F1 legend Alain Prost was also asked for his opinion. He also does not dare to predict whether we will see the Briton again on the Formula 1 grid next season. According to the Frenchman, losing the championship was a huge blow to Hamilton.

“It’s hard to put yourself in his shoes,” Prost is quoted as saying by the French Le Journal du Dimanche. “He certainly has as many reasons to stop as to continue. It’s fifty-fifty. He took a big blow, but it would be a real shame if he wasn’t around this season.”

Hamilton may return due to new regulations

The former F1 driver hopes Hamilton will return and indicates that he has great confidence in the new rules that will be introduced in Formula 1 this year. “I want to remain optimistic, because there is that eighth title that can be won.”

“And that new technical regulation with maybe three teams at the top and four or five drivers competing for the title,” said the Frenchman. Prost expects that the Briton will feel at home in such a situation. “That’s a challenge Hamilton might want to take on.”
